
As those deeply embedded within commercial business-cycles know intimately and instinctively, ‘Market Timing is Everything’! And due to the rapid and relatively recent re-emergence of CCS/CCUS interest, this has become a rapidly burgeoning field of commercial activity again now. This current resurgent interest is, of course, driven by recent public sector action and governments (at long last) creating a real-price on Carbon and Carbon Emissions…via Carbon Credits, Carbon Offsets, Carbon Tax Concessions, etc. which is fueling commercial market interest in developing CCS/CCUS projects now.
And as such, these compelling market incentives are creating strong market demand now for CCS/CCUS projects – for which critical expertise and professional wherewithal is sorely needed – in order to select, design and build effective and successful CCS/CCUS projects, and help bring them to market.
And while a lot of relevant technical expertise resides within Energy companies (specically Oil & Gas companies), the Chemicals Industry, gas processing industrial environments and the like – the unfortunate reality is that the business of extracting hydrocarbons from subsurface (i.e., within deep geological) environments is a very different skillset than capturing, injecting and storing CO2 within either the same or similar subsurface environments on a long-term or permanent basis. (Any number of dramatic commercial failures point to the reality of this statement!).
