Dr. William Nguyen received degrees from the University of Regina (Bachelor of Engineering and Applied Science and PhD in Chemical Engineering) and from Cape Breton University (MBA). In the workplace, William has developed a wide range of experience in the oil industry and brine-based lithium industry.
His work in industry includes working as a process engineer at Long Lake, Alberta for CNOOC where he helped optimize chemical injection in the water treatment part of the facility. He also worked on optimization of other parts of the facilities.
At the University of Regina, William supported graduate students, helped develop experimental equipment and was generally engaged in CO2 capture work (modelling, laboratory work).
William’s work in the lithium from brine business included the screening for adsorbents to capture the lithium from the brine with the goal of improved capture techniques.
In the heavy oil area, William worked in the Lloydminster area of Saskatchewan. This included work on heavy oil wells, extending production runs, reducing the oil production cost among other tasks with the asset team for SAGD production.
